Children's Classes
Ages 5-12
Beginner - Beginner Level Class
Our Beginner class comprises 3 stages. Beginner 1, 2 and 3. They will need to complete all 3 stages prior to being able to graduate to the Beginner level. Each stage is going to help your child learn how to be safe in and around the water, learn the fundamentals of self rescue and the swimming strokes. They will also work on being prepared to switch over to side breathing once they graduate to our Intermediate class. If your child is nervous about being in the water, please do not worry! Our instructors are ready to guide them through the class at the pace they're able to keep up with. Our instructors ensure that each child is getting the appropriate help for where they are at and where we need them to go!
We have 2 required safety skills for this class level to ensure that any non-independent swimmers are able to self rescue in different situations. Safety Skill 1: Q- "What do you do if you fall in the pool?", A- "Turn and grab the wall!", Safety Skill 2: Q- "What do you do if you fall off a boat?", A- "Turn over and float!". We will do both these skills everyday and will even continue once your child can do it independently. Keeping the repetition consistent helps their bodies know what to do in an emergency situation.
Completion Goals: Swim 12M with arms out of the water, Independent rollover breathing with one arm by ear, Elementary backstroke 12M.
Please keep in mind, these are the absolute final goals for this class, it may take your child a while to get here. As they work through Beginner levels 1 & 2, these are the skills the need to show before moving into our Intermediate class!
Intermediate - Intermediate Level Class
This class is split into two levels. Intermediate 1 & 2. To complete Intermediate 1 your child will need to be able to swim a 25M freestyle with bilateral (side breathing to both sides) breathing. Their next goal will be to swim the 25M freestyle and a 25M backstroke and be able to perform flip turns.
This level is full of drills and tools. Each drill and tool will allow your instructor to target very specific parts of your child's stroke. This will allow your child to mentally focus on the specifics of each movement and eventually self-identify when they do an incorrect movement. This is the biggest step that we see kids achieve in this class! We strive for proficiency in each of your child strokes and we will work with them to ensure that they can perform each stroke with as much consistency as possible.
Completeion goals: Freestyle 25M, Competitive Backstroke 25M, Flip Turns
Advanced - Advance Level Class
This class is made up of two levels. Advanced 1 & 2. Starting the class, they will continue to work on and improve their freestyle and backstroke. Our first main goal is them being able to swim both strokes for 50M proficiently. They will begin to learn their breaststroke as well. To move to Advanced 2 they will need to be able to swim breaststroke for 25M. We will start the process of teaching them butterfly in the Advanced 2 curriculum.
This class will push your child in the area of stamina and endurance. While you may see some of the same practices from our intermediate class, we are now trying to get them to do it further and longer without compromising their form. This is the highest level class that we offer. If your child finishes this class and you would like to continue their growth, we suggest looking at a competitive or non-competitive swim team or looking at our private lesson option.
Completeion goals: 50M Individual medley, Freestyle, Backstroke and Breaststroke 50M each, Butterfly 25M, Shallow angle dives.
