Toddler Classes

Ages 2-4 Years

Aquatike 1 - Beginner Level Class

Our first priority in this class is simple: making sure your child is having fun. We have found that enjoyment is the foundation for long-term success in the water. To support this, we ask parents to remain out of sight for the first few classes. While we understand this can feel uncomfortable, it allows our instructors to better engage and redirect your child’s attention toward the fun and learning happening in the pool.

If your child is still struggling after the first 15 minutes of their initial class, we will give them the option to end early. Our goal is to help them build enough comfort and confidence to participate fully by the second class. Once they begin enjoying their time in the water, we can start building skills effectively.

In this class, your child will learn the fundamentals of leg action, arm movement, breath control, and floating. We focus on isolating arm and leg movements first, ensuring a strong understanding of each before combining them into coordinated swimming. From there, we work toward two key milestones: controlled breath work and independent floating on both the front and back. Belly floats help develop proper bubble blowing, while back floats serve as a critical safety skill.

Each class also includes two essential water safety skills, practiced without goggles:
Safety Skill 1: “What do you do if you fall in the pool?” Answer: “Turn and grab the wall.”
Safety Skill 2: “What do you do if you fall off a boat?” Answer: “Turn over and float.”

Completion Goals:
Swim 2 meters using reach-and-pull arm movements
Maintain 5 to 10 seconds with face in the water
Demonstrate a 5 to 10 second independent back float

Aquatike 2 - Intermediate Level Class

Congratulations! Your child has built a strong foundation and is ready to continue developing their swimming and water safety skills. In this class, your child will progress through two levels: Aquatike 2 and Aquatike 3. This stage may take a bit more time, and that is completely expected. Our structured lesson plans are designed to support each step of their growth and ensure lasting progress.

To complete the Aquatike 2 level, your child will work toward swimming 3 meters using arms that come out of the water, often called “rainbow arms.” They will also begin learning how to independently roll onto their back for a breath. Once these skills are established, we shift focus to strengthening their rollover breathing and building consistency with independent movement in the water.

As your child becomes more confident, the next goal is to increase their distance. By the end of this progression, they will be able to swim at least 6 meters using independent swimming with a rollover breath. Throughout the class, we continue reinforcing safety skills and ensure your child is comfortable swimming without goggles. Our priority is helping them stay safe and confident in, on, and around the water.

Completion Goals:
Swim 6 meters using arms out of the water
Independently roll over for a breath and continue swimming to a destination
Be at least 5 years old to move into child-level classes
