Aquatike 1 - Beginner Level Class

Our first priority in this class level is that your child is having fun! We have seen the biggest road to success starting with just having fun in the water. To help us accomplish this goal we will ask parents to stay out of sight for the first couple of classes. We absolutely understand how scary it can be to be away from your child when they're upset. With you a bit more hidden, your instructor will be able to distract your child and get them to focus on the fun things we do in the pool. If your child is still not doing well by the 15 minute mark on the first day, we will let them break for the day. Our goal is then to have them attend the entire second class. Once they are having fun and enjoying their time in the pool, we get to work!

In this class your child will be learning the fundamentals of leg actions, arm actions, breath control and floating. We work on isolating their arm and leg actions before putting it all together, this ensures that they have a good understanding of both movements individually before we ask them to throw it together! Our next big goal is floating on the back and front, and breath control. Your instructor will be working with your child to ensure they can float calmly on their stomach or their back. Our belly float helps us to practice good bubbles while their face is in the water and the back float will be their primary safety skill for everything we do!

We also include two safety skills with every class. These are done without goggles. Safety Skill 1: Q: "What do you do if you fall in the pool?", A: "Turn and grab the wall". Safety Skill 2: Q "What do you do if you fall off a boat?", "Turn over and float".

Completeion goals: Swim 2M with reach & pull arms, 5-10 seconds with face underwater, and a 5-10 second independent back float

Aquatike 2 - Intermediate Level Class

Congratulations! Your child has built a strong foundation to continue building their swimming and water safety skills from. In this class there are two levels your child will accomplish. They will first move through the Aquatike 2 curriculum and then our Aquatike 3 curriculum as well. This class may take your child a bit longer to move through, but that's okay! We have amazing lesson plans that allow us to build all the steps they need.

To complete the Aquatike 2 level, they will need to successfully perform a 3M swim with arms coming out of the water (rainbow arms), and they will have begun the process to independently rollover to their back float for a rescue breath. Once these are completed, we focus heavily on their rollover breathing. As we work through this new way to swim independently, our next goal is getting them to double their distance. Once completed your child will be able to at least swim 6M using their independent swimming and rollover breath. We will continue to inforce their safety skills as well as being comfortable with swimming without goggles throughout this course. We want to make sure your child is able to keep themselves safe in, on and around the water wherever they go!

Completeion goals: Swim 6M with arms coming out of the water, rollover independently and continue swimming to destination. They must also turn 5 to moved up to our child level classes.
